Original release date: 2013) The use of sliders in online surveys has become common, as researchers seek to enhance respondent engagement. The only problem is that if you’re using sliders, there’s a pretty good chance you are getting back biased data.

In our latest research-on-research, Grey Matter investigated the impact sliders have on survey responses, using different scales, multiple question sets, and different starting points for the sliders. We even did the research in both English and Spanish.

We found that sliders can have a strong impact on the data you’re getting back from your online surveys. Unfortunately, the most common “fix” for this bias really isn’t a fix at all.

Sliders may be profitable for White Castle, but you may want to avoid them in your research—and this report will show you why.
